The District of Columbia’s Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a SQL/SSIS/SSRS Developer to design, develop, enhance, debug, and implement software, SQL queries, reports, procedures, functions, database backups, recoveries, and other necessary backend development and administration. The ideal candidate will have 16+ years of troubleshooting production problems related to software applications.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 16+ years of troubleshooting production problems related to software applications
- 11+ years of technical reporting, system setup, data analysis and analytics
- 11+ years of setting up and configuring MS SQL Server infrastructure
- 11+ years if creating and deploying reporting / dashboard solutions using Reporting Services of MS SQL Server
- 11+ years of designing, implementing and managing complex databases including administration tasks
- 8+ years of developing, designing and supporting computerized databases
- 8+ years of database technologies
- 8+ years of front-end development ( i.e. Cognos) and back-end programming language
- 5+ years of tuning Reporting Services
- 3+ years of analytical and communication skills

The District of Columbia’s Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a SQL/SSIS/SSRS Developer to design, develop, enhance, debug, and implement software, SQL queries, reports, procedures, functions, database backups, recoveries, and other necessary backend development and administration. The ideal candidate will have 16+ years of troubleshooting production problems related to software applications.
This position works under the Application Support Division I (ASD I) of the Office of Information Systems (OIS) to directly support TANF and SNAP related application stabilizations, enhancements, and operations and maintenance redesign.
The SQL/SSIS/SSRS Developer will be tasked to:
- Design, develop, deliver and enhance SQL queries, reports, procedures, functions and other necessary backend development and administration
- Perform database monitoring, backups and recoveries
- Implement and manage business aligned IT services
- Ensure the application platform is of high quality, defect free and adheres to industry standards
- Design, develop and deploy applications that support users on the client assessments and case and program management applications
- Provide mentorship and technical advice to a team of Application/Reports/Query developers
- Provide strategic advice to the lead, management and customers of the OIS
- Implement programming standards that support a secure and defect free application
- Interact daily with government clients in order to meet the technical requirements for new initiatives
- Work with Quality Assurance / Quality Control teams to ensure the application remains secure and defect free
- Evaluate, design, and implement accepted programming standards as they relate to the TCA and SNAP E&T application and infrastructure
- Define and document processes to be used by all application developers on the team
- Plan, research and recommend new equipment, software tools and related technologies
- Use monitoring and performance analysis tools to troubleshoot and isolate application performance issues
- Manage database environments, backups, restores and other administration tasks
- Update system and process documentation
- Produces user guides, ER diagrams, and SOPs as needed, including Visio Network design drawings
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Demonstrate the required initiative and critical thinking abilities necessary to resolve all problems and challenges accordingly
- Instruct, assign, direct and check the work of other software developers on the development team
