The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Education (PDE) is seeking an SQL Server Analysis Services Developer to lead the development efforts for a Research data repository. The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of Microsoft SSAS and Reporting Services, 5+ years of developing data cubes, and 5+ years of SQL.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience using BI tools such as Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services
- 5+ years of experience developing data cubes with Microsoft SSAS
- 5+ years of experience with SQL
- 5+ years of experience with Reporting Services
Desired Skills/Years of Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with Analysis Services
- 5+ years of experience with Integration Services

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Education (PDE) is seeking an SQL Server Analysis Services Developer to lead the development efforts for a Research data repository. The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of Microsoft SSAS and Reporting Services, 5+ years of developing data cubes, and 5+ years of SQL.
The SQL Server Analysis Services Developer will be tasked to:
- Lead the development efforts for a research data repository
- Report to the Data Quality Office Director
- Apply strong Integration Services skills
- Work with BI tools such as Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services and Reporting Services
- Utilize knowledge of education, education data, and the Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS)
- Apply experience with multi-dimensional cubes, data linking, and automation of data refreshing between different data sources
- Utilize understanding of various types of project management methodologies
- Work on the research data repository project along with other projects as assigned
- Apply technical proficiency throughout the software development life cycle
- Interface with key stakeholders
- Apply strong Reporting Services skills
- Deliver high-quality code
- Lead validations for testing and all activities related to implementation
- Document, design, develop, test, and implement solutions
- Support data analysis with data models, cubes, and reports
- Apply a thorough understanding of business processes
- Work independently and consult with business units and team members
- Translate business needs into analytics/reporting requirements
- Track the status of assigned projects to ensure timely completion
- Communicate with the project manager and team regarding the progress of the work
- Attend meetings and workshops to support the success of the projects
- Schedule and oversee production rollouts
- Apply strong SQL skills
- Coach and educate end-users on best practices, standards for querying, and the proper use of reports and cubes
- Identify opportunities for improving BI development methods and procedures
- Apply prior experience with SSAS
- Research database issues, standards, and products as required
- Develop data cubes with Microsoft SSAS
- Apply strong Analysis Services skills
