The District of Columbia's Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) is seeking a Senior Java/Spring Developer to design, develop and test using JAVA technologies to facilitate application development and implementation. The ideal candidate will possess 16+ years of conveying technical and functional concepts for a specific technical specialty, 16+ years of preparing technical documentation, and 10+ years of experience developing genuine core JAVA.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 16+ years of experience conveying technical and functional concepts for a specific technical specialty
- 16+ years of experience preparing technical documentation
- 10+ years of experience developing genuine core JAVA with strong back-end development skills
- 8+ years of experience with JAVA (Annotations, Generics, Reflection, Inheritance, OO Design, NIO, Bean Validation)
- 5+ years of experience with LINUX working environment
- 4+ years of experience developing Spring Boot Applications
- 3+ years of experience with Spring (Java Config, Dependency Injection, Autowiring Concepts)
- 3+ years of experience with Spring Integration Development
- 3+ years of experience developing Spring Web Services
- 3+ years of experience programming Synchronous and Asynchronous (callbacks, future, timeout, and error handling)
- 3+ years of experience with MAVEN Project Build
- 3+ years of experience with GIT version control repository

The District of Columbia's Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) is seeking a Senior Java/Spring Developer to design, develop and test using JAVA technologies to facilitate application development and implementation. The ideal candidate will possess 16+ years of conveying technical and functional concepts for a specific technical specialty, 16+ years of preparing technical documentation, and 10+ years of experience developing genuine core JAVA.
The Senior Java/Spring Developer will be tasked to:
- Write clean, scalable code using JAVA programming languages
- Refactor and debug codes
- Improve existing software
- Test and deploy applications and systems
- Develop documentation throughout the lifecycle of the development process
- Provide technical support to the team
- Ensure that the technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications that meet enterprise standards
- Collaborate with internal teams to produce software design and architecture
- Monitor and report performance utilization of assigned technologies
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues
- Manage problem or escalated tickets and tasks and out of cycle requests from systems/software owners
- Determine the best course of action for meeting business needs and provide consultative expertise to customers on how to best use systems
- Monitor and identify broad, complex issues across integrated technologies and communicate as appropriate
- Provide technical knowledge and support to District agencies, personnel, and additional stakeholders
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Coordinate activities of application developers
- Identify best practices and standards for the use of the product
- Deliver support and design for industry specific applications that require integration with statewide systems or applications
- Interact with executive level business users or technical experts
- Function as a niche technical SME (Subject Matter Expert)
