Short Description
The District of Columbia’s Department of Employment Services (DOES) is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to manage the implementation of various projects and develop, update, and maintain a detailed project plan throughout the performance. The ideal candidate will have 20+ years of documenting business processes, requirements, and test scripts and will have possessed a Project Management certification for 10+ years.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 20+ years of documenting business processes, requirements, and test scripts
- 16+ years of aligning IT strategy and planning with company's business goals
- 16+ years of managing, coordinating, and establishing priorities for project lifecycle
- 16+ years of overall Project Management experience
- 16+ years of directing and coordinating the planning and production of contract support activities/delivery items
- 16+ years of developing plans and schedules
- 16+ years of coordinating schedules and resource estimates for programs/projects using estimated project/program management standards
- 12+ years of working with the business group
- 12+ years of excellent organizational and facilitation skills
- 10+ years of working independently and in a team environment
- 10+ years of employing a collaboration mindset
- 10+ years of influencing and creating alignment across functions and across all leadership levels
- 10+ years of employing a strong ability to adapt
- 8+ years of understanding SDLC and Agile development methodology
- 8+ years of fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication
- 6+ years of software development for accounting and data entry systems
- 5+ years of User Interface Designs for WEB applications
- 5+ years of familiarity with Agile Methodologies
- 5+ years of strong documentation skills

The District of Columbia’s Department of Employment Services (DOES) is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to manage the implementation of various projects and develop, update, and maintain a detailed project plan throughout the performance. The ideal candidate will have 20+ years of documenting business processes, requirements, and test scripts and will have possessed a Project Management certification for 10+ years.
The Senior IT Project Manager will be tasked to:
- Develop, update, and maintain a detailed project plan throughout the performance
- Identify, document, and manage project action items associated with the implementation
- Collaborate with the project management team on various client requests, cost management, and contract administration tasks
- Track and coordinate the status of deliverables and other work products
- Collaborate on the creation and implementation of procedures for maintaining project records, standard operating procedures, templates, and other project artifacts
- Write progress reports, technical reports, and memos, in whole or in part
- Synthesize meeting discussions and documenting decisions made
- Collaborate on grant and contract proposals
- Document and communicate project goals and objectives
- Work with process and system owners to document inefficiencies, gaps, and desired outcomes for business processes
- Identify ways to improve and streamline business processes and drive process improvements aligned with customer needs
- Facilitate project status meetings and working sessions with customers and Subject Matter Experts
- Ensure all project documents, including communications, training materials, and process documentation, are to date
- Deliver written documents and provides oral presentations as appropriate
- Monitor the status of all task deliverables
- Meet with all designees on a specified basis to resolve problems, communicate status, and present and discuss issues and approaches in determining them
- Identify, in writing, any risks of the project along with potential mitigation strategies
- Ensure all training documentation is up to date as required by the Agency
- Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures are up to date as required by the Agency
- Employ knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio, and similar project management tools
