Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor of Science in in IT, Cybersecurity, or Engineering or equivalent experience
- 11+ years of implementing, administering, and operating IS tech (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Antivirus, net traffic analyzers, and malware analysis)
- 11+ years of advanced experience with scripting and tool automation (Perl, PowerShell, Regex)
- 11+ years of developing, leading, and executing information security incident response plans
- 11+ years of developing standard and complex IT solutions & services, driven by business requirements and industry standards

The District of Columbia’s Department of Human Services is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to implement, administer, and operate various information security technologies. The ideal candidate will have 11+ years of implementing, administering, and operating IS tech (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Antivirus, net traffic analyzers, and malware analysis).
The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will be tasked to:
- Develops and implements security solutions
- Administer security technology systems by architecting and engineering/developing trusted systems into secure systems
- Assist in the development of implementation and deployment plans that are aligned to the organizational strategic plan objectives and security requirements
- Advise management in developing cybersecurity policies, processes, and procedures
- Lead all activities in the day-to-day support of the security solutions
- Oversee engineering support and system administration of specialized cybersecurity applications
- Develop information systems security action plans, evaluate information security products, and perform other activities necessary to secure the organization's network
- Identify potential conflicts with the implementation of any cybersecurity tools
- Review and analyze appropriate solution system logs for performance and functional anomalies
- Collaborate with architects and project managers to provide security requirements and answer advanced questions about the installation, operation, configuration, and customization of cybersecurity solutions
- Demonstrate expertise in implementing, administrating and operating information security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Antivirus, network traffic analyzers and malware analysis tools)
- Demonstrate advanced experience with scripting and tool automation (Perl, PowerShell, Regex)
- Develop, lead, and execute information security incident response plans
- Develop standard and complex IT solutions and services, driven by business requirements and industry standards
- Leverage dynamic and static code assessment tools to measure the vulnerability of applications throughout the SDLC
