Short Description
The District of Columbia’s Office of Unified Communications (OUC) is seeking a RF (LMR) Wireless Consultant to provide assessments of technical and operational practices based on leading industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess 11+ years of acting as a SME in enterprise level projects, 6+ years of wireless communications, and 5+ years of working in public safety radio communications systems.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 11+ years of experience acting as a SME in complex enterprise level projects
- 6+ years of experience with wireless communications (theory and practice)
- 5+ years of experience working in public safety radio communications systems
- 5+ years of experience working in DAS systems
- 3+ years of experience working with interoperable radio
- 3+ years of experience integrating P25 and 4G / 5G DAS systems infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience using RF engineering tools to simulate 4G and LMR coverage analysis
- 3+ years of experience drive testing P25 radio systems and 4G/5G cellular systems
- 3+ years of experience with radio network coverage and interference analysis
- 3+ years of experience in-building wireless systems design, implementation, testing, and monitoring
- 3+ years of experience with interference management for wireless systems design
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting wireless systems including LMR, 4G/5G, and DAS
- 3+ years of experience with public safety infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience with P25 radio network
- 3+ years of experience with public safety communications and interoperability
- 3+ years of experience with DAS operations
- 1+ years of experience using LTE and P25 standard practices
Desired Skills/Years of Experience:
- 2+ years of experience developing fleet maps, code plugs, and programming radios for public safety
Complete Description
The District of Columbia’s Office of Unified Communications (OUC) is seeking a RF (LMR) Wireless Consultant to provide assessments of technical and operational practices based on leading industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess 11+ years of acting as a SME in enterprise level projects, 6+ years of wireless communications, and 5+ years of working in public safety radio communications systems.
The RF (LMR) Wireless Consultant will be tasked to:
- Support MPD radio update and tracking efforts
- Support radio system infrastructure, subscriber deployment, DAS systems performance monitoring and interference resolution, and the testing and acceptance of OUC projects
- Support and complete agency programming requests
- Manage and coordinate encryption and OTAR upgrades
- Develop radio training material for internal and external users
- Develop technical guidelines for radio use
- Develop in-building approval criteria for In-Building Wireless (IBW)
- Review IBW proposals for compliance
- Review existing guidelines for IBW
- Develop requirements for IBW systems implementation and support
- Perform field surveys of new and existing BDA installations
- Troubleshoot IBW network interference issues
- Investigate IBW network coverage issues
- Support OUC radio operations
- Provide assessments of technical and operational practices associated with upgrades and system changes
- Plan, organize, and conduct research in support of an IT initiative
- Analyze information and statistical data to prepare reports
