The State of New Jersey’s Department of Health (NJDOH) is seeking an Oracle DBA to provide advanced technical work in all phases of database administration support, operations activities, and development activities. The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of experience programming PL/SQL, 5+ years of experience programming SQL, and 5+ years of experience working with Oracle 12c and later editions.
The Oracle DBA will be tasked to:
- Support application development lifecycle activities such as planning, design, development, implementation, data migration, quality assurance, data cleanup, and data administration
- Support database operations activities such as database administration, database security, assuring availability, server and database monitoring, performance monitoring, SQL software installation and configuration, and Service Pack installations
- Provide operations support for SQL Database and Database Server administration support for critical production systems
- Ensure the overall health, availability, and quality of service
- Perform health checks to review the performance of databases
- Identify and provide recommendations to enhance performance of databases
- Perform the migration and upgrade of SQL Databases from legacy servers SQL Version to new servers SQL Version
- Perform data migration by designing programs to optimally extract, cleanse, transform and load data between data sources as part of data migration and data validation support
- Deploy database schema changes to test and production environments
- Provide Power BI support assistance to the Lead Power BI Administrator
- Provide Data Warehouse support assistance to the Lead Data Warehouse Administrator
- Provide Data Mart support assistance to the Lead Data Mart Administrator
- Deploy SQL database solutions within Azure
- Secure Azure SQL resources and data
- Connect Azure SQL resources with other Azure services
- Monitor and optimize the Azure SQL Database performance
- Migrate the on-premises SQL Server databases to Azure
- Provide database design support
- Create, maintain, and support the logical and/or physical design of assigned databases by utilizing modeling tools to develop the data models
- Review data dictionaries and data models and provide comments in accordance with standards
- Define, develop, and create databases by assessing requirements
- Design tables through database normalization and efficiently organize the data
- Eliminate redundant data and ensure data dependencies’ make sense
- Meet with developers and vendors to ascertain requirements and to provide consulting assistance to determine the appropriate database configurations
- Request backup and restore from the backup team
- Apply ongoing process improvement
- Apply data analysis and database management techniques
- Execute all responsibilities with little direct supervision of Team Lead
- Determine time estimates and create schedules for your own work
- Resolve issues in a timely manner
- Identify and track issues, risks, and action items
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical support issues
- Assist in coordinating software releases
- Manage and provide status update on all work activities
