The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a MS Network Administrator to provide application support, Windows Server administration, and support to various other technologies. The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of utilizing MS Windows server in a large organization setting, 2+ years of providing HTTP Server and Apache support, and 2+ years of working with Red Hat and Linux.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience with MS Windows server in a large organization setting
- 2+ years of experience with Microsoft IIS configuration and support
- 2+ years of experience with HTTP Server and Apache support
Desired Skills/Years of Experience:
- 2+ years of experience with Red Hat and Linux
- 2+ years of experience with Active Directory
- 2+ years of experience with TCP and IP

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a MS Network Administrator to provide application support, Windows Server administration, and support to various other technologies. The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of utilizing MS Windows server in a large organization setting, 2+ years of providing HTTP Server and Apache support, and 2+ years of working with Red Hat and Linux.
The MS Network Administrator will be tasked to:
- Provide application support, Windows Server administration, and support to various other technologies
- Conduct system management of Commonwealth enterprise servers
- Deploy servers and applications to meet needs of project teams
- Determine server sizing and configuration
- Assist in the development of configuration standards
- Monitor the availability of updates and upgrades
- Test and install updates and upgrades
- Work directly with Commonwealth staff in coordination and deployment of projects
- Work with PennDOT, DCED, and PEMA partners and employees in deployment activities
- Work with application teams to deploy code and applications through multiple environments
- Perform proactive monitoring of enterprise systems
- Monitors system performance and provide statistics to identify capacity or performance problems
- Make technical recommendations for appropriate action
- Respond to alerts and resolve issues identified through monitoring tools
- Provide direct support for system issues
- Identify and resolve problems
- Respond to system related trouble calls, including hardware and software
- Use software such as Remedy to report, track, and resolve issues
- Place service calls for servers and network equipment
- Assist service providers in resolving service calls
- Perform related duties as required
- Demonstrate knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft IIS, HTTP Server/Apache, TLSv1.2, Windows Security, and OpenSSL
- Apply knowledge of networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing
- Demonstrate knowledge of security concepts and technologies, including PKI, certificate management, TLS/SSL, and firewalls
- Work with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products
- Establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines
- Demonstrate a willingness to work off hours as needed to accommodate maintenance windows
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to produce and update documentation
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrate proficiency with effective problem solving
