Short Description
The State of New Jersey's Transit Corporation (NJT) is seeking a Mainframe Migration Project Manager to support mainframe migration efforts to move the current applications to newer language technologies running on a cloud based platform. The ideal candidate will possess 7+ years of SDLC models/methodologies, IT systems and processes, and project management practices, 7+ years of integration or migration related projects, and 7+ years of supporting the development and deployment of project management standards, guidelines, and processes.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience with SDLC models/methodologies, IT systems and processes, and project management practices
- 7+ years of experience with integration or migration related projects
- 7+ years of experience with client-facing and internal communication skills
- 7+ years of experience meeting budgetary objectives and making adjustments to project constraints where appropriate
- 7+ years of experience performing risk management to assess project impact and effectiveness of mitigation strategies
- 7+ years of experience establishing and maintaining relationships with vendor's project management and technical leads
- 7+ years of experience supporting the development and deployment of project management standards, guidelines, and processes

The State of New Jersey's Transit Corporation (NJT) is seeking a Mainframe Migration Project Manager to support mainframe migration efforts to move the current applications to newer language technologies running on a cloud based platform. The ideal candidate will possess 7+ years of SDLC models/methodologies, IT systems and processes, and project management practices, 7+ years of integration or migration related projects, and 7+ years of supporting the development and deployment of project management standards, guidelines, and processes.
The Mainframe Migration Project Manager will be tasked to:
- Support mainframe migration efforts to move the current applications to newer language technologies running on a cloud based platform
- Work with IT technical teams, NJT PMO, business stakeholders, and the vendor performing the core technology conversion
- Demonstrate strong detailed and task-oriented skills
- Manage application development and integration projects
- Demonstrate knowledge of mainframe and cloud technology concepts
- Apply SDLC models/methodologies, IT System and processes, and project management practices
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors to achieve the goals of the project
- Ensure all phases of the project are delivered on-time, within scope, and work remains aligned with project’s strategies and goals
- Work with vendor and key project lead to ensure project scope and objectives are being met
- Provide guidance to area leads, project team, and vendor resources
- Support the development and deployment of project management standards, guidelines and processes
- Ensure resource availability and continuous allocation
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
- Report and escalate to management key impacting issues
- Perform risk management to assess project impact and effectiveness of mitigation strategies
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors project management and technical leads
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Track project performance to analyze successful completion of short and long-term goals
- Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints where appropriate
- Develop with the team a comprehensive project plan aligning with vendor's work effort and organization's time and budgetary constraints
- Demonstrate proficiency with integration or migration related projects
- Implement excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Employ excellent written and verbal communication skills
