Short Description
The State of New Jersey’s Administrative Office of the Courts (NJAOC) is seeking an IT Data Analyst (AWS, Tableau) to work with business teams and bridge the gap between Judiciary business partners and the technology solution providers by translating business needs into warehouse solutions for BI. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of overall experience with at least 2+ years working in a business analyst function supporting data governance and management initiatives and 3+ years of preparing data for use in Tableau.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of working closely with lines of business, including research analysts, to address data needs for analytics
- 5+ years of SQL like DB2 (Legacy), AWS (Dynamo, Redshift)
- 5+ years of analyzing raw system data
- 5+ years of expert level SQL writing
- 5+ years of preparing data reqs, data models, and transformation rules for new data warehouse structures, including summary info optimized for analytics
- 5+ years of creating test cases and performing quality validation of data warehouse content to ensure accuracy
- 5+ years of conducting data profiling to identify data quality issues and work with the business and IT teams to resolve issues
- 5+ years of creating data flow diagrams to illustrate data lineage and mapping from data warehouse to end-point publication
- 2+ years of technical presentations
Desired Skills/Years of Experience:

Complete Description
The State of New Jersey’s Administrative Office of the Courts (NJAOC) is seeking an IT Data Analyst (AWS, Tableau) to work with business teams and bridge the gap between Judiciary business partners and the technology solution providers by translating business needs into warehouse solutions for BI. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of overall experience with at least 2+ years working in a business analyst function supporting data governance and management initiatives and 3+ years of preparing data for use in Tableau.
The IT Data Analyst (AWS, Tableau) will be tasked to:
- Work with business teams and bridge the gap between Judiciary business partners and the technology solution providers by translating business needs into warehouse solutions for BI
- Perform identification/verification of test plans to ensure that technical solutions meet the needs of the business
- Prepare and document data requirements and conduct data validation for the automation of data extractions to be used in analytics
- Design new data warehouse structures to meet business needs
- Using excellent communication skills, work closely with lines of business, including research analysts to address data needs for analytics
- Analyze raw system data
- Mine large datasets and draw valid inferences and actionable insights
- Use SQL to extract data from a large and complex data warehouse and conduct analysis to ensure the proper data is available to support business needs
- Align data attributes across disparate systems to ensure common connection points are utilized when joining or integrating data sets
- Prepare data requirements, data models, and transformation rules for new data warehouse structures, including summary information optimized for analytics
- Identify areas to increase efficiency and automation of data-related processes
- Create test cases and perform quality validation of data warehouse content to ensure accuracy
- Create data flow diagrams to illustrate data lineage and mapping from the data warehouse to end-point publication
- Analyze code in BI tools (e.g., WebFocus, Tableau) to determine data usage and assist with determining the data usage accuracy
- Conduct data profiling to identify data quality issues and work with business and IT teams to resolve the issues
- Collaborate with stakeholders from multiple disciplines to elicit business, data and functional requirements into Technical requirements
- Act as a liaison between judiciary business units and the data warehouse technical development team to ensure business requirements are understood and translated into functional and technical requirements
- Document business data glossaries, including business definitions and business rules for technical teams to develop logical and physical data model design
- Understand raw data for various departments and consolidate it into information useful for decision-making by users for the Unified Enterprise Judiciary System
- Translate data requirements into clearly defined and easily understood documents, including business use cases, process flows, data flows, business rules, data definitions, process-to-data mapping diagrams, etc.
- Perform SQL writing like DB2, AWS (Dynamo, Redshift)
- Demonstrate a high-level understanding of technical programming (Java, Python, Pega, etc.)
- Work with stakeholders including business and technology SMEs to conduct design sessions/training sessions/demos and develop user manuals and guides if necessary
- Work closely with the design and development team to ensure that the technology solution satisfies business requirements
- Partner with the QA team and SMEs to ensure adequate test coverage (relying on own knowledge and facilitating conversations with SMEs, to identify additional test scenarios)
- Suggest multiple implementation options, each with associated risks/costs and where applicable, recommend an option
- Assist with troubleshooting and managing production issues when needed
