Short Description
The State of New Jersey’s Administrative Office of the Courts (NJAOC) is seeking a COBOL/DB2 Programmer to write new DB2 stored procedures to retrieve or update from/to SOR databases that reside on the mainframe and to support existing legacy CICS/COBOL/DB2 mainframe. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of current hands-on experience in coding, testing and debugging programs written in COBOL/CICS/DB2 and coding complex DB2 Stored Procedures.
* Note: This position requires the candidate to have strong expertise in SQL writing Stored Procedures.
Required Skills/Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience with COBOL/CICS/DB2 coding, testing and debugging
- 8+ years of experience with IBM OS/JCL (MVS)
- 8+ years of experience with IBM/DB2
- 8+ years of experience coding complex DB2 stored procedures
- 8+ years of experience with usability testing (UT)
- 8+ years of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- 8+ years of experience collaborating with internal and external groups
- 8+ years of overall technical and IT experience
- 3+ years of experience with stored procedures
Desired Skills/Years of Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with CICS
- 5+ years of experience with IDMS/DC to CICS and IDMS to DB2 conversions
- 5+ years of experience with APPC/LU 6.2 and/or MQ programming in COBOL-CICS
Complete Description
The State of New Jersey’s Administrative Office of the Courts (NJAOC) is seeking a COBOL/DB2 Programmer to write new DB2 stored procedures to retrieve or update from/to SOR databases that reside on the mainframe and to support existing legacy CICS/COBOL/DB2 mainframe. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of current hands-on experience in coding, testing and debugging programs written in COBOL/CICS/DB2 and coding complex DB2 Stored Procedures.
The COBOL/DB2 Programmer will be tasked to:
- Analyze existing programs written in COBOL/CICS/DB2, extract the business logic from these programs and document them
- Collaborate and provide technical expertise to the Information Technology Office and the business unit to develop a technical solution to implement business/system requirements for the Criminal Applications
- Deliver new or modified programs, code Stored Procedures and successfully unit test their work, develop supportive documentation, and participate with the users in the system testing of their programs
- Demonstrate experience in working with database conversions
- Write new DB2 stored procedures to retrieve or update from/to SOR databases that reside on the mainframe, in support of newly developed mid-range systems that are being developed utilizing Java or Pega (BPM tool)
- Support existing legacy CICS/COBOL/DB2 mainframe applications
- Investigate production issues, making code fixes as necessary in response to identified software issues
- Develop enhancements in response to legislative mandates or other changes in business requirements
- Perform analysis, design, coding, and component and assembly testing of all application code owned by the Application Team
- Be involved in maintenance (including production support), enhancement and development work
